Daily Fill Pharmacy Technician responsibilities include:
- Process new medication orders and prescription refills accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare, package, and label medications according to pharmacy procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Verify National Drug Codes (NDCs), lot numbers, and expiration dates.
- Prepare prescriptions for pharmacist verification.
- Prioritize workflow to ensure medications are ready for scheduled deliveries.
- Communicate with pharmacists regarding prescription questions, inventory issues, and order discrepancies.
- Assist with medication returns, credits, and destruction procedures.
- Restock medications and supplies while maintaining inventory.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all state and federal pharmacy regulations.
- Keep workstations clean, organized, and compliant with pharmacy standards.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives to minimize dispensing errors.
- Assist with additional pharmacy projects and responsibilities as needed.
Ideal qualifications for Morton LTC team members:
- Current Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician registration or certification (or ability to obtain as required by state law).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous pharmacy experience preferred; long-term care pharmacy experience is a plus.
- Strong computer and data entry skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and patient safety.
Ideal knowledge, skills & abilities:
- Understand pharmacy terminology and medication names.
- Follow detailed procedures with a high level of accuracy.
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Be dependable with excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities throughout the day.
- Maintain a professional, positive attitude while working with teammates and customers.
Physical requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Frequently reach, bend, twist, and perform repetitive hand movements.
- Work comfortably at a computer and perform repetitive keyboard tasks.
- Read medication labels and distinguish small print accurately.
This position is full-time operating Monday through Friday. Shifts are 8 hours long and may vary throughout the week according to scheduling needs of the department (6a-2p, 7a-3p, 8a-4p, 9a-5p, 10a-6p, 11a-7p, 12p-8p). Team members will be scheduled for one weekend per month, and holiday on-call shifts are available on a volunteer basis.
