Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Business Operations & Strategy Manager to lead operational excellence and drive sustainable growth at MPD Custom Homes. In this pivotal role, you will oversee key business functions, develop innovative scaling strategies, and foster leadership across our construction, project management, and design teams to ensure maximum efficiency, client satisfaction, and profitability. Duties
- Strategic Growth & Planning: Lead the development and execution of comprehensive business strategies aligned with organizational goals to enhance market presence, business growth, and profitability in the premium residential sector.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee daily business operations, ensuring seamless coordination across design-build phases, interior design services, and partnerships like the MPD Real Estate Group.
- Financial & P&L Management: Manage profit & loss statements, carefully analyzing project budgets, material costs, and financial data to inform strategic procurement and operational decisions.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Supervise and mentor project managers, design coordinators, and team leaders, fostering a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and the highest standards of craftsmanship.
- Business Development & Partnerships: Drive business development initiatives by identifying new residential market opportunities, building strategic relationships with elite subcontractors, and expanding our custom home clientele.
- Project Portfolio Management: Monitor complex design-build projects from inception through completion, ensuring timely pipeline delivery, strict budget adherence, and flawless quality control.
- Process Optimization: Implement process improvements to streamline construction workflows, optimize vendor management, reduce overhead costs, and enhance overall single-point-of-contact client experiences.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with design and sales teams to develop client acquisition strategies that boost revenue while maintaining the white-glove customer satisfaction MPD is known for.
Experience
- Management Excellence: Proven management experience with a track record of leading diverse teams (e.g., project managers, builders, designers, and subcontractors) in a fast-paced residential construction or luxury design environment.
- Strategic Vision: Strong background in strategic planning with a demonstrated ability to develop and execute long-term business plans tailored to high-end real estate or construction markets.
- Leadership Skills: Proven leadership skills with experience supervising personnel, resolving complex on-site or client bottlenecks, and fostering a collaborative, precision-oriented work culture.
- Financial Acumen: In-depth understanding of profit & loss management, detailed construction budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Business Development Background: Experience in residential business development, including custom housing market research, luxury client engagement, and sales pipeline formulation.
- Advanced Project Management: Skilled in project management methodologies with the ability to oversee multiple high-end design-build projects simultaneously.
- Workflow Engineering: Expertise in operational efficiency and process improvement techniques (such as Lean Construction principles or Six Sigma) is highly desirable.
- Corporate & Field Experience: Prior experience supervising employees within a corporate construction or premium boutique design-build setting is preferred.
