Responsibilities
- Assist sushi chefs with preparing fresh ingredients, including slicing fish and vegetables using proper knife skills
- Support food preparation tasks such as assembling sushi rolls and hand rolls according to established recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, ensuring food safety and hygiene protocols are followed
- Handle food items safely during storage, handling, and service to meet all health regulations
- Help with food service duties by preparing ingredients for plating and assisting in serving customers when needed
- Support catering events or special functions by preparing sushi platters and ensuring timely delivery
Requirements
- Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
- Basic knowledge of food handling, safety practices, and kitchen sanitation standards
- Experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant environments is highly desirable
- Strong knife skills and familiarity with meal preparation techniques within the food industry
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Knowledge of culinary practices related to sushi or Japanese cuisine is a plus but not required; training will be provided
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards learning new skills and supporting the culinary team
