Our client is seeking an experienced Accountant with a strong general ledger accounting background and the analytical judgment to interpret business performance, not just record it. This role suits someone with solid core accounting skills and sound business judgment; industry-specific experience is not required.
Key requirements:
Solid general ledger accounting experience, ideally across multiple entities, locations, or business units
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret P&L results, identify trends, and explain variances in operational terms
Comfort building forward-looking projections and forecasts using sound assumptions and judgment, confident making informed estimates rather than avoiding projections due to uncertainty
Ability to learn and apply lender/bank financial covenant requirements and understand how operating performance ties to compliance
Ability to meet tight, non-negotiable close deadlines consistently
Strong communication skills, with the ability to speak directly and credibly with lenders, operational leaders, and ownership/clients about financial performance
A proactive, ownership mindset, someone who understands the "why" behind the numbers well enough to record transactions correctly on their own, escalate issues appropriately, and problem-solve without needing step-by-step instruction
Ideal candidate profile:
An Accountant who acts as a financial partner to operations, someone comfortable exercising professional judgment, defending their numbers, and driving the conversation on performance rather than reacting to it. Candidates from a variety of industries (real estate, retail, multi-unit or multi-location businesses, etc.) are welcome; relevant training will be provided.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 5-10 years accounting experience.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Solid organizational skills with superior attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Great interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to flourish in a fast-paced, complex environment with a willingness to adapt to change.
- Commercial real estate or property accounting experience preferred.
