Duties
- Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage intake processes, including collecting medical histories and updating patient information in electronic medical record (EMR).
- Measure vital signs and perform basic eye assessments to support the optometrist’s diagnostic process.
- Maintain aseptic technique during clinical procedures to ensure patient safety and infection control standards are upheld.
- Support the front desk by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and managing patient flow to optimize clinic efficiency.
- Handle medical records with accuracy, ensuring proper documentation of exams, diagnoses, and billing codes aligned with medical coding and billing practices.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in medical office settings or optometry clinics is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health and pediatrics.
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient care tasks such as taking vital signs and conducting intake assessments confidently.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy at all times.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with patients, team members, and vendors.
- Experience with optical equipment and procedures is advantageous.
