Join the Santa Barbara Adventure Pack Team
Are you the type of person who would rather spend your day exploring trails with dogs than sitting behind a desk?
Do you have exceptional dog handling skills, excellent judgment, and a passion for canine behavior?
Santa Barbara Adventure Pack is looking for experienced, reliable Adventure Pack Leaders to provide structured outdoor adventures for small groups of dogs. This is not a traditional dog walking position. We specialize in enrichment-based pack adventures focused on exercise, confidence building, healthy socialization, and safety.
Responsibilities
Safely transport dogs to and from local trailheads
Lead small, structured adventure packs (maximum 3 dogs)
Read canine body language and proactively manage group dynamics
Ensure every dog has a safe, enriching experience
Maintain excellent communication with clients
Take photos and videos during adventures for client updates and social media
Report any health or behavioral concerns immediately
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
Has professional experience handling multiple dogs
Has strong knowledge of canine body language and behavior
Remains calm and confident under pressure
Is physically active and able to hike several miles each day
Has excellent time management and communication skills
Is dependable, honest, and professional
Loves being outdoors in all kinds of weather
Requirements
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Reliable vehicle suitable for transporting dogs
Comfortable driving throughout Santa Barbara County
Able to safely lift dogs up to 70 lbs if needed
Pass a background check
Previous experience as a dog trainer, veterinary professional, rescue volunteer, kennel technician, or professional dog walker is highly preferred
Compensation
$45 per dog

We’re a boutique alternative to traditional dog daycare. Our adventures are designed to reconnect dogs with nature through structured hikes, enrichment, healthy socialization, and individualized care. We intentionally keep our packs small so every dog receives the attention and leadership they deserve.
