Position Summary
The Development Director is responsible for leading and implementing Tri-County Dental Clinic’s fundraising, donor engagement, grant development, and community relations strategies. This position plays a critical role in securing philanthropic support to advance the clinic’s mission of providing accessible, high-quality dental care to underserved individuals and families throughout the Fox Valley.
The Development Director will cultivate relationships with donors, foundations, corporations, community partners, and volunteers while developing sustainable fundraising programs that support annual operations, strategic initiatives, capital projects, and long-term organizational growth.
Hours & Compensation
This position is a full-time, salaried role with standard hours of Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Development
- Develop and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising plan aligned with organizational goals.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation partners.
- Manage annual giving campaigns, special appeals, online fundraising efforts, and donor engagement activities.
- Establish fundraising goals and track progress toward revenue targets.
- Coordinate donor recognition and stewardship programs to increase donor retention and engagement.
- Research and pursue new funding opportunities and philanthropic partnerships.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive multi-year development strategy that supports the organization's strategic plan and long-term sustainability.
- Explore and develop planned giving and legacy giving opportunities to strengthen long-term philanthropic support.
Grant Management
- Identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
- Prepare compelling grant proposals, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Manage grant calendars, deadlines, compliance requirements, and reporting obligations.
- Collaborate with clinic leadership and program staff to gather data and outcomes needed for grant applications and reports.
Community Relations & Outreach
- Serve as an ambassador for Tri-County Dental Clinic within the community.
- Develop partnerships with businesses, civic organizations, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and community groups.
- Represent the clinic at community events, networking functions, and public presentations.
- Promote awareness of the clinic’s mission, services, and impact.
Donor & Database Management
- Maintain accurate donor records and fundraising data within the donor management system.
- Analyze fundraising metrics and prepare reports for leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Ensure donor confidentiality and adherence to ethical fundraising practices.
- Develop strategies for donor acquisition, retention, and upgrade opportunities.
Events & Campaigns
- Plan and oversee fundraising events, donor appreciation activities, and community engagement initiatives.
- Coordinate volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and event committees.
- Evaluate event outcomes and return on investment to inform future fundraising efforts.
Board & Leadership Support
- Support the Executive Director and Board of Directors in fundraising and relationship-building efforts.
- Assist with development-related committee activities and board engagement.
- Prepare fundraising reports, presentations, and strategic recommendations for leadership.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business administration, public relations, or a related field.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, development, grant writing, or nonprofit advancement.
- Demonstrated success in securing grants, major gifts, sponsorships, and charitable contributions.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Experience managing donor databases and fundraising software.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to the mission of improving access to healthcare for underserved populations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while exercising sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion.
Ideal
- Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential.
- Experience in healthcare, dental, public health, or community-based nonprofit organizations.
- Knowledge of rural healthcare challenges and community health initiatives.
- Experience working with boards of directors and volunteer committees.

Physical Demands
- Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance.
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with regular travel throughout the service area for donor meetings, community events, and outreach activities.
- Occasional evening and weekend work required for fundraising events and community functions.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout the service area as needed.

Pay: $85,000.00 per year
