Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. In this role, you will design and implement tailored instructional strategies to support students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities
- Develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of each student, ensuring compliance with special education law and district policies
- Deliver engaging lessons across core subjects such as literacy, math, and communication skills, integrating assistive technology where appropriate
- Implement effective classroom management and behavior management strategies to create a positive learning environment for students with behavioral health challenges and neurodevelopmental disorders
- Collaborate with speech therapists, behavioral therapists, and other specialists to support speech therapy goals and behavioral health interventions
- Conduct early intervention activities for preschool-aged children, supporting childhood development milestones and early childhood education standards
- Use evidence-based teaching practices including curriculum development, tutoring, mentoring, and library services to enhance student learning outcomes
- Monitor student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and ongoing evaluations; adjust instructional approaches accordingly
Skills
- Proven experience working with students with disabilities in classroom settings; familiarity with special education law (IDEA) and IEP development is essential
- Strong knowledge of working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), deaf education needs, and neurodevelopmental disorders
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with parents, caregivers, colleagues, and specialists in multidisciplinary teams
- Skilled in classroom management techniques tailored for students with behavioral health issues or developmental disabilities
- Proficiency in educational technology integration to support differentiated instruction and literacy education
- Ability to implement behavioral therapy strategies and behavior management techniques effectively within the classroom environment
- Experience in curriculum development for diverse learners across preschool through early childhood education levels
