Job Summary
An exciting and fast-paced certified medical assistant opportunity is available for an established Mohs surgery dermatology office in Spartanburg. Responsibilities include direct patient care and education, surgical prep, primary assist with a variety of skin cancer surgical procedures and wound care. The position requires a high degree of intelligence, empathy and energy. Must be able to process information and learn quickly and work well with others while always having a smile on your face. You will be working with a team of well-trained and highly motivated medical professionals in one of the busiest and most respected Mohs surgery practices in the country. Mohs surgery is a technique used to remove high risk skin cancers and/or cancers growing in cosmetically sensitive areas of the face such as the nose, lips or eyelids. Experience in dermatology or other surgical sub-specialties is not required but is extremely advantageous.
Duties
- Assist Mohs surgeon and midlevel during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment is ready for use.
- Obtain and record medical histories and other relevant patient information.
- Provide medical administrative support, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
- Educate patients on skin care practices and post-procedure instructions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic environment.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care.
Experience
- Previous experience in a clinical setting is preferred, particularly in dermatology or internal medicine.
- Familiarity with medical-surgical procedures and outpatient care is advantageous.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems is desirable.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with patients and team members.
