The Philanthropy Associate is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of individual, foundation, and corporate donors while supporting Montgomery & Prince George's Hospice's annual fundraising and donor stewardship efforts. This relationship-focused position serves as a frontline fundraiser responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors capable of making annual gifts ranging from $1,000 to $25,000, while also managing a portfolio of private foundations, family foundations, corporate funders, and sponsorship opportunities with giving potential of up to $25,000.
Working collaboratively with philanthropy, executive leadership, program staff, communications, and volunteers, the Philanthropy Associate develops meaningful donor relationships that deepen engagement, increase philanthropic investment, and create a strong pipeline of future major gift prospects.
This position combines fundraising, stewardship, grant writing, and donor engagement responsibilities and is ideal for an experienced development professional seeking a broad portfolio and significant donor-facing responsibility.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Minimum of 35 years of progressively responsible fundraising experience.

Demonstrated success securing gifts from individual, corporate, and/or foundation donors.

Experience writing grant proposals or donor proposals.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Strong relationshipbuilding and donor stewardship abilities.

Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experience with donor databases; Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT preferred.

Understanding of fundraising best practices.

Manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 100150 leadership annual gift donors and prospects.

Develop and implement individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.

Conduct donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship meetings.

Prepare gift proposals, correspondence, and impact reports.

Identify annual donors with major gift potential and collaborate with senior leadership on appropriate moves management.

Achieve annual fundraising and activity goals for assigned portfolio.

Manage a portfolio of foundation and corporate donors with annual giving potential up to $25,000.

Research and qualify prospective institutional funders aligned with organizational priorities.

Prepare letters of inquiry, grant proposals, sponsorship requests, and reports.

Coordinate proposal development with clinical, finance, communications, and executive staff.

Maintain relationships with program officers and corporate community relations professionals.

Assist in identifying sponsorship opportunities for special events and organizational initiatives.

Coordinate meaningful stewardship activities that strengthen donor relationships and increase retention.

Ensure timely donor acknowledgements, impact reporting, recognition, and personalized communications.

Develop donor engagement opportunities including tours, cultivation events, and volunteer experiences.

Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to produce donorcentered stories demonstrating impact.

Support stewardship initiatives for leadership annual donors, institutional partners, and event sponsors.

Assist with implementation of annual giving campaigns, including yearend, Giving Tuesday, memorial giving, anniversary appeals, and special initiatives.

Support recurring giving and donor upgrade strategies.

Utilize donor analytics to identify opportunities for increased giving and reactivation.

Participate in campaign planning and evaluation.

Maintain accurate donor records, contact reports, proposal schedules, and stewardship activities within the CRM.

Track fundraising progress against established goals.

Prepare donor briefings and meeting materials for executive leadership.

Ensure compliance with grant requirements and AFP ethical standards.

Collaborate across departments to communicate philanthropic priorities and donor impact.
