Entry-Level Civil Engineer
IWDA Engineering is seeking an Entry-Level Civil Engineer to support a variety of civil, geotechnical, structural, and construction-related engineering projects. The position will involve engineering analysis and design, preparation of technical drawings and reports, field work, and construction support.
This role offers exposure to a broad range of project types, including civil/site development, temporary works, excavation support, retaining structures, geotechnical design, and other specialty engineering projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist with engineering analysis, calculations, and design
- Prepare and revise engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Prepare plans, details, calculations, reports, and technical submittals
- Review project drawings, specifications, and related documents
- Assist with civil/site, structural, geotechnical, and temporary works projects
- Perform quantity takeoffs and basic engineering evaluations
- Participate in site visits, field measurements, inspections, and construction coordination as needed
- Coordinate with engineers, CAD technicians, contractors, clients, and other project stakeholders
- Assist with project organization, revisions, schedules, and deliverables
- Take on increasing technical and project responsibility as experience is gained
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
- Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and engineering mechanics
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working in an in-office environment
Preferred, but Not Required
- AutoCAD or Civil 3D experience
- Previous engineering internship, co-op, construction, or field experience
- Experience with engineering calculations or technical report preparation
- Familiarity with structural, geotechnical, civil/site, or temporary works design
- Bluebeam Revu experience
- FE exam passed or interest in pursuing EIT certification
Position Development
This position is intended for an engineer looking to build practical, hands-on experience across multiple disciplines. As experience and capability grow, the successful candidate will have opportunities to take greater ownership of design tasks, project coordination, client communication, and overall project execution.
