Overview
Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a Powder Coating Technician, where you'll play a vital role in applying high-quality powder coatings to a variety of metal products. Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces through construction painting surface preparation techniques, including sanding, cleaning, and masking to ensure optimal coating adhesion.
- Operate powder coating equipment and spray guns, including airless paint spraying and conventional spraying methods, to apply coatings evenly and efficiently.
- Interpret production documents such as work orders, process sheets, and quality standards to accurately execute coating tasks.
- Handle materials with care using hand tools, power tools, and forklift equipment while adhering to safety protocols and PPE requirements.
- Conduct visual color comparisons and inspect finished surfaces for coating consistency, defects, or imperfections, making adjustments as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety procedures including respirator use and respiratory protection measures.
- Assist in materials handling within the warehouse environment, supporting machining processes and auto body repair tasks when necessary.
Experience
- Previous experience in industrial painting or powder coating operations is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, quality standards in production, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments and understanding basic math for measurements and calculations.
- Hands-on experience with coating application techniques such as spray guns (including airless systems) and conventional painting methods.
- Knowledge of construction painting surface preparation, auto painting, and finishing processes is advantageous.
- Ability to interpret production documents accurately and follow detailed work instructions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience operating hand tools, power tools, machining equipment, and warehouse machinery like forklifts.
