Transload Operator

Major Objectives: Safely trans-load liquid products from semi-truck to railcar & railcars to semi-trucks at Rail Loading Services LLC
Responsibilities / Job Duties:
Prepare the rail tank cars for loading; including a thorough inspection
Unload Railcars utilizing a mobile trans-loading unit
Assist haulers with unloading their products safely into rail cars, by hooking up hoses, checking for leaks and operating the trans-loader
Ensure receiving and shipping paperwork is neat, accurate and verified
Must safely and properly seal rail cars and bill them for Rail Loading Services LLC’s customers.
General Maintenance, as well as housekeeping, snow removal, landscape upkeep, and painting, etc.
Handle problems as they arise and initiate steps to resolution
Commit to Safe work practices through situational awareness, following standard operating procedures, receiving constructive criticism and watching out for the health and wellness of others
Interact with other team members, customers, rail crews & visitors
Understands and anticipates customer needs
Capable to learn how to operate and maintain railcar/trans loading equipment (e.g., Hoses, transfer pumps, portable stair systems, and small to medium sized equipment, etc.)
Ability and willingness to travel to other trans-load terminals to assist when necessary
Ability to communicate with Rail Loading Services LLC’s customers in a professional manner
Requirements/Qualifications:
1 year of rail, trans-loading or refinery experience a plus
A sound understanding or aptitude to learn the trans-loading of liquid commodities including hazardous materials
Understands, or willing to learn, railroad operations and safety
Mechanically Inclined (Preferred)
Basic computer skills, office organization, and administration
Can work independently with minimal supervision
Committed to working safely at all times including a commitment to the policies and procedures of the operation
Positive attitude and a good team member
Must pass a reference check, drug screen, motor-vehicle report, and background check
Able to routinely lift, push or pull 50-lbs
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions: extreme wind, snow, rain, heat and cold
Comfortably be able to complete the physical aspects of the job including opening and closing railcars dome lids, climb railcars (heights), crawl under railcars, walk long distances on uneven terrain, etc.
Must be able to attend and pass all tests associated with job related coursework. This includes, but it is not limited to: OSHA, HazMat and FRA
Education/Experience:
A high school diploma
Some experience in a rail environment a plus
