Safety Coordinator
Location: Cave Junction, Oregon Area
Diversified Utility Services, Inc. is a high-voltage utility construction contractor specializing in electrical transmission, distribution, substation, and utility infrastructure projects throughout the western United States. We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Safety Coordinator / Safety Manager to join our team in the Cave Junction, Oregon area.
This position plays a critical role in supporting our commitment to providing a safe and productive work environment for our employees, subcontractors, and clients.
Position Summary
The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements on active construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with field personnel, project management, and company leadership to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, client, and company standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly jobsite safety inspections.
- Perform field audits and document compliance with company safety programs.
- Lead and facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee training sessions.
- Assist with accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and prepare detailed reports.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, federal, and client safety requirements.
- Monitor and maintain project safety documentation and records.
- Conduct new employee safety orientations.
- Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Support project teams in developing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs).
- Assist in emergency response planning and implementation.
- Maintain positive working relationships with employees, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Travel between project sites as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of construction safety experience preferred.
- Utility, electrical, transmission, distribution, or heavy civil construction experience preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification required (OSHA 500 preferred).
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and in field environments.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic safety reporting systems.
