Responsibilities:
The Captain will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing the specific duties below:

Ensure safety of the crew, vessel and all equipment and supplies used in the fishing operations

Ensure vessel is properly maintained and repaired
-
Ensure ongoing training of the officers and fishing crew
-
Ensure the proper coordination and smooth operations of the steamer and two purse boats
-
Ensure continual communication with the general manager, fellow captains and spotters working from aircraft
-
Ensure uninterrupted fishing operations including the storage and transportation of the fish
-
Stay current and follow all state & federal menhaden fishing regulations
-
Recruit and develop crews
-
Follow all terms of the Captains Maritime Employment Agreement
-
Enforce safety and environmental regulations in accordance with policy and procedure
-
Ensure all officers and crew members complete all tasks safely
-
Ensure all officers and crew members report all hazards, accidents, injuries, or environmental excursions to you immediately
-
Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions as needed
-
Follow the SMS manual
-
All other duties as assigned
Minimum requirements:
-
Minimum age of 21 as required by the U.S. Coast Guard
-
Current USCG 1600 Ton Uninspected Master’s License for Near Coast Fishing Vessel
-
Current certificate of First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
-
Radar certified
-
Fire Fighter certificate
-
FCC Radio/Telephone Operator Permit
