Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and customer-focused HVAC & Plumbing Counter Sales Representative to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will serve as the vital link between our customers and our extensive inventory of HVAC, plumbing, and other related products.
As a Counter Sales Representative, you will be the face of our business — assisting customers at the counter, helping contractors find the right products, and ensuring orders are handled accurately and efficiently. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your sales skills while working in a fast-paced environment dedicated to quality and service excellence.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and identify their needs to recommend appropriate HVAC, plumbing, and related products
- Assist customers with product selection, pricing, and technical questions using your mechanical knowledge and industry expertise
- Manage inventory levels through accurate data entry, stock replenishment, and inventory control procedures
- Support procurement management by sourcing products from suppliers, negotiating prices, and managing supplier relationships
- Utilize ERP systems and order management systems to process sales transactions efficiently and accurately
- Coordinate with warehouse staff for shipping & receiving, order fulfillment, and equipment repair logistics
- Maintain a clean, organized counter area while adhering to safety standards such as forklift operation protocols and warehouse safety procedures
Qualifications
- Proven experience in customer service within a retail or wholesale environment, preferably in HVAC or plumbing supply sales
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to HVAC systems, plumbing components, automotive diagnostics or repair is highly desirable
- Familiarity with supply chain management processes including procurement management, sourcing, demand planning, and inventory management
- Experience with warehouse operations including shipping & receiving, inventory control, and equipment repair is a plus
- Proficiency in using ERP systems, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), AS400 or similar order management software
- Ability to operate forklifts safely; forklift certification is preferred
- Excellent negotiation skills with suppliers and customers to ensure optimal pricing and sourcing solutions
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping and order processing
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally
