Title: Environmental Services Technician I
Shift: Full Time, Evenings
This position will be scheduled 40 hours per week in our Environmental Services department.
Job Overview: The primary responsibility of the Environmental Services Assistant I (Evs Asst I) is to provide a clean; safe sanitary and appealing environment at The Christ Hospital Health Network. The Evs Asst I promotes safety, cleans and services the building areas, departments according to established policies and procedures.
The Environmental Services Technician I may perform the following duties:
EVS Staff Promotes Patient Safety:
- All patient areas are cleaned daily with approved germicide and cleaning chemicals
- Wet floor signs or other caution alerts are used where a slippery or hazardous condition may exist.
- Infection control procedures are followed. Staff uses proper hand washing and aseptic technique and follows general precautions to include proper PPE and bio trash handling in all patient areas.
- Is aware of and works with other hospital staff to ensure the utmost hospital experience.
Cleaning and Sanitizing:
- Cleans non-patient areas such as nurses’ stations, offices, public waiting rooms and restrooms, and other ancillary areas.
- Terminally cleans patient rooms upon patient discharge to prepare room for new admissions. Average time of cleaning is 30 minutes.
Customer Service:
- Interacts daily with patients, visitors and staff promoting a service attitude.
- Assures that rooms are cleaned daily to the patients’ satisfaction.
- Uses scripting to ask if there is anything else we can do for the patient.
- Leaves tent card with name, a hospital packet, toilet seat band, tissue label and folded towels in every patient room upon discharge cleaning.
- Learn the NaviCare system to log into and out of bed tracking.
- Other tasks as required
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: 0-1 year experience
Required Skills and Knowledge: Basic reading, writing, and math skills required. Prefer basic customer service skills, but not required.
Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend, every other holiday.
