About Us
ETR Laboratories is a rapidly growing, ISO 17025–accredited water testing laboratory serving homeowners, businesses, and environmental professionals nationwide. We operate a multi-instrument, high-throughput facility with capabilities including Wet Chemistry, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, GC-MS, Liquid Scintillation, Capillary Electrophoresis, SEM, NMR, HACH, FTIR, TOC Analysis, and more. As we continue scaling operations, automating workflows, and expanding our national customer base, we are adding a Senior Chemist to support the technical leadership and oversight of our laboratory operations.
Position Overview
The Senior Chemist will play a critical role in ensuring scientific rigor, methodological excellence, and smooth day-to-day operations across multiple analytical departments. This individual will collaborate closely with ownership and department leads to help drive a proactive, solutions-oriented laboratory culture as the company continues an aggressive growth trajectory.
While the title is “Senior Chemist,” the role encompasses key responsibilities often associated with laboratory management—technical mentoring, method development, quality oversight, and cross-departmental coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Analytical & Technical Leadership
· - Perform and oversee advanced analyses using ICP-MS (required), and ideally GC-MS.
· - Apply strong understanding of extractions, sample preparation, and analytical chemistry.
· - Support and refine methods across departments.
Quality & Accreditation
· - Uphold and strengthen ISO 17025 standards, documentation, and QA/QC systems. We do have a full-time QC manager who oversees our accreditation tasks and needs.
· - Ensure adherence to SOPs, maintenance schedules, and calibration requirements.
Leadership & Staff Development
· - Mentor junior chemists and technicians.
· - Support cross-training efforts and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Operational Excellence
· - Recommend workflow improvements and operational efficiencies.
· - Support strategic planning, equipment upgrades, and automation initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
· - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or related field.
· - Hands-on ICP-MS experience (minimum 2–3 years).
· - Strong fundamentals in analytical chemistry and extractions.
· - Experience in ISO 17025 or regulated lab environments.
Preferred:
· - Experience with GC-MS.
· - Water/environmental chemistry background.
· - Prior supervisory or lead chemist experience.
