Innovators Prep is an early childhood education and preschool special education program dedicated to creating an inclusive, nurturing, and engaging environment where every child belongs, learns, and grows. We serve young children with a variety of developmental, communication, sensory, and educational needs through individualized instruction, related services, and collaborative classroom support.
We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and knowledgeable Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our multidisciplinary team.
Position Overview
The Speech-Language Pathologist will provide developmentally appropriate speech and language services to preschool-aged children in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The SLP will work closely with teachers, teaching assistants, families, administrators, and other related-service providers to support children's communication skills across the school environment.
We are looking for someone who believes therapy should be engaging, play-based, individualized, and functional and who enjoys collaborating with classroom teams to help children generalize their skills throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small-group speech and language therapy as mandated by each student's IEP.
- Evaluate and address receptive language, expressive language, articulation, phonological development, pragmatic/social communication, and other communication needs.
- Develop individualized therapy goals and strategies based on each child's developmental and educational needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely session notes, progress reports, attendance records, and other required documentation.
- Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and adjust therapeutic approaches as appropriate.
- Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, case conferences, and collaborative planning when required.
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to incorporate speech and language strategies into classroom routines, centers, play, and instruction.
- Provide teachers and teaching assistants with practical strategies for supporting communication throughout the school day.
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, special education teachers, administrators, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate professionally with families regarding student progress and strategies that may support communication development.
- Utilize play-based, sensory-informed, and developmentally appropriate therapeutic activities.
- Support children who use or may benefit from visual communication systems, AAC, picture supports, or other alternative communication methods.
- Maintain therapy materials and spaces in an organized, clean, engaging, and child-friendly manner.
- Follow all school policies, confidentiality requirements, and applicable NYSED and program requirements.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited program.
- Current New York State Speech-Language Pathologist license or appropriate eligibility/credentials for the position.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred, when applicable.
- TSSLD certification or appropriate New York State certification/eligibility for working with school-aged/preschool children, as required.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children and children with disabilities strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of IEP development, progress monitoring, and special education documentation.
- Experience with autism, developmental delays, language disorders, articulation disorders, AAC, and social communication needs is a plus.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
