Job Overview
As a DOT Car Hauler Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting vehicles to and from dealerships, auctions, terminals, private locations and distribution centers. Drivers will load, secure, transport, and unload vehicles while ensuring damage-free delivery and on-time performance. As an Auto Hauler, you’ll operate specialized tractor-trailers designed for vehicle transport, ensuring each load arrives safely and on time. This position will put you in an automatic day cab tractor with a four car trailer. You will have the choice of signing on with either a 1099 or a W-2. This route is mainly between Tampa, FL and Jacksonville, FL. You will be home most nights and weekends. The truck will be parked in Jacksonville over night on nights you are home.
Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped for auto hauling.
- Load and unload vehicles by driving them on to the trailer, and possible use of winches in the future. Locations like auctions may also have forklifts that will load the vehicles for you.
- Plan efficient routes utilizing GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel efficiency
- Transport vehicles mainly between Tampa and Jacksonville Florida.
- Conduct thorough inspections of trucks and trailers before and after trips to ensure compliance with safety standards and cargo integrity
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Communicate proactively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery status, or any issues encountered during transit
Skills
- Minimum of 1 years experience in commercial truck driving. 2+ years of CDL experience and auto hauling experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time tracking.
- Ability to load & unload cargo safely using the vehicle ramps provided.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean safety record; experience with tanker, flatbed, refrigerated trailer, or hazardous materials transport is a plus.
- Ability to operate basic hydraulic controls on the trailer.
- Ability to communicate with pick up and drop off locations/clients in order to streamline the drivers route and efficiency.
Pay: $1,000.00 - $1,500.00 per week
