Position Summary:
The Optometry Assistant supports Optometrists and Ophthalmologists in delivering high-quality eye care services. This role combines administrative, clinical, and customer service responsibilities to ensure smooth operations and a positive patient experience in our Optometry clinic.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Interaction:
- Greet and check in patients
- Collect and update patient medical histories
- Schedule appointments and manage follow-ups
Clinical Support:
- Perform preliminary eye tests (e.g., visual acuity, color vision, depth perception)
- Assist with contact lens fittings and patient training
- Prepare patients for eye exams and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Provider or Clinic Pod Director
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Order and manage inventory of optical supplies and eyewear
Customer Service:
- Educate patients on eyewear care and usage
- Address patient questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification in optometric assisting is a plus
- Previous experience in optometry required
- Certified Medical Assistant
