Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented DEXA Technologist specializing exclusively in Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) scans to join our dynamic radiology team. In this role, you will perform precise bone density assessments to evaluate patients' risk for osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases. Duties
- Operate DEXA imaging equipment with precision to obtain high-quality bone density scans in accordance with established protocols.
- Prepare patients for scans by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and positioning them correctly for optimal results.
- Maintain strict adherence to radiation safety procedures, implementing protocols to protect patients and staff during imaging procedures.
- Conduct routine quality control checks on DEXA equipment to ensure consistent performance and calibration accuracy.
- Collaborate with physicians and radiologists to interpret scan results and facilitate timely diagnostic evaluation.
- Document all procedures thoroughly, including patient information, technical details, and scan images, maintaining accurate records.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized work environment while adhering to infection control standards such as aseptic techniques.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating DEXA scanners with a strong understanding of bone density assessment protocols.
- Prior experience in urgent care settings or emergency room environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and radiologic imaging principles related to diagnostic radiology.
- Familiarity with other imaging modalities such as mammography, CT (Computed Tomography), fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine, PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scans, interventional radiography, and interventional radiology procedures is a plus.
- Demonstrated commitment to radiation safety procedures and implementing radiation safety protocols effectively.
- Experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers or emergency medicine environments enhances your suitability for this role.
- Strong patient care skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately across diverse patient populations.
- Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT or equivalent) with specialized training or certification in DEXA scanning preferred.
- Knowledge of medical equipment operation, diagnostic evaluation processes, and medical imaging standards is essential.
