Job description:
We’re looking for a sharp, client-facing Accounting Manager to be the final set of eyes on our clients’ books and the trusted voice they hear on their monthly calls. You’ll own the quality of our financial output, lead client relationships, help coach our bookkeeping team, and bring the CFO-level expertise that positions BEAM to expand into advisory services down the road.
This is a remote position with approximately 2 weeks of onsite time per year.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform final review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financials for a portfolio of small business clients before delivery
- Own client calls; reviewing financials, answering questions, and serving as a trusted financial resource clients genuinely look forward to hearing from
- Bring CFO-level expertise (cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting) that positions BEAM to expand into advisory services; you’ll help us define what that looks like as we grow
- Manage, delegate, and review work performed by our bookkeeping team; provide coaching and feedback that helps them level up
- Support onboarding of new monthly clients and get them set up smoothly in our systems and workflows
- Handle GAAP vs. tax adjustments and resolve complex issues in QuickBooks Online and Xero
- Continuously look for ways to improve our processes and implement them
- Bring an AI-forward mindset: you’re already using tools to work faster and smarter, and you’ll help us figure out how to do more of that as a team
Must haves:
- 7+ years in accounting or bookkeeping, including 4+ years at an accounting firm managing multiple clients simultaneously
- The person clients trust. You communicate clearly, follow through, and people feel genuinely at ease talking to you about their finances
- Someone who leads with integrity: you do the right thing even when no one’s watching, and your clients and colleagues know they can count on you
- Tech-savvy and genuinely curious. Expert in QuickBooks Online, Xero, Google Sheets, and Excel, and always looking for a better way to get things done
- Deep understanding of GAAP vs. tax accounting and the ability to explain the difference clearly to a non-accountant
- Strong project management instincts. You manage your own workload, flag issues early, and keep things moving without being told to
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field preferred (CPA is a plus)
- Experience across industries (you’re not thrown off by a hospitality client right after a SaaS client)
- Spanish fluency is a bonus
