Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mold Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting molds used in plastics manufacturing processes such as injection molding, blow molding, and extrusion. Your expertise will ensure high-quality production, optimal machine performance, and adherence to safety standards. Duties
- Set up and calibrate molds for plastics injection molding, blow molding, and extrusion processes using hand tools and precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers
- Operate machinery including press brake machines, CNC lathes, CNC machines, and other fabrication equipment to produce high-quality molded parts
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on molds and related equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance
- Conduct quality inspections on molded products using precision measurement tools to verify dimensions and surface finish standards
- Handle materials safely and efficiently within the warehouse environment, utilizing forklift certification when necessary for materials handling
- Assist in the fabrication and assembly of molds or mold components as needed, applying mechanical knowledge and machining skills
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to improve processes, reduce waste, and enhance overall productivity
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in plastics injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, and fabrication techniques
- Proficiency with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for machine operation and troubleshooting
- Skilled in operating hand tools, press brake machines, CNC lathes, CNC machines, and other machining equipment
- Knowledge of quality inspection methods using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments
- Experience with materials handling equipment such as forklifts; warehouse experience is a plus
- Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics; basic math skills are essential for measurements and calculations
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices to promote efficiency and continuous improvement
