Since 1991, TOR has had continuous open contracts to provide engineering and design services on an as-needed basis for Arizona Public Service Company, Salt River Project, Nevada Power Company, and NV Energy.

Job Description:
TOR Engineering is seeking a Distribution CAD Operator to support the design of distribution projects for both utility and commercial clients. Our T&D projects range from 4.2 kV to 69 kV. This position is an entry level position. Mentorship and training will be provided as this is an entry level position.
The ideal individual should have an eye for detail, have a good work ethic and be a team player. A mind for electrical connectivity and “outside the box” thinking is a plus. Familiarity with right-of-way, public utility easements, and parcels/lot lines is a plus. Creativity is a must.
Full-time work at TOR Engineering office is required. Field visits for verifying existing site conditions may be required, therefore candidate is expected to be based in Phoenix, Arizona to facilitate this activity. Company vehicles for such activities to be available.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide CAD support to Designers and Engineers throughout the project development and submittal process.
- CAD services may incorporate elements like base map creation, street and freeway crossings for profiles, development of primary IDs, plot plans, electrical equipment details, conduit/schematic diagrams, section views, bill of material, cable tag lists and more.
- Interpret conventional engineering design markups made during the redline process.
- Translate verbal descriptions, cut & paste segments, and references to past projects into suitable design implementations.
- Support the establishment and maintenance of a library for electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical design references.
- Support the creation of drawing lists or drawing indexes based on the project drawings for engineers and designers to review.
- Support the creation of customer-specific PDF files and bind design packages in various order formats.
- Assist with printing, organizing, and preparing shipments of large format drawings.
- Assist with maintaining large format plotter paper supply, swapping out paper in plotter, handling plotter toner replacement, and arranging any required plotter service calls.
General Requirements:
- Completion of Computer Aided Drafting classes at High School, College, or Technical School.
- Must be self-driven, able to effectively communicate and collaborate with the design team to ensure the success of the entire project.
- Must be highly detail-oriented and eager to learn.
- One-year of AutoCAD or MicroStation training or experience.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience in electrical utility design drafting or civil layout/design drafting support is desirable.
- Automated Utility Design (AUD) experience.
- Familiarity with Right of Way, Property Easements, underground utilities (water, sewer, communications, gas, etc.)

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
