Calamus Care is an affirming outpatient mental health practice dedicated to providing thoughtful, evidence-based, and relationship-centered care.
We are particularly committed to serving LGBTQ+ individuals and people navigating the complex intersections of identity, culture, family, religion, and belonging. Our approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in the belief that healing occurs within authentic human relationships.
Founded by a board-certified psychiatrist with extensive experience in LGBTQ+ and community mental health care, Calamus Care strives to create a clinical environment where both patients and clinicians feel supported, respected, and empowered to grow.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who is passionate about psychotherapy, clinical excellence, and serving diverse communities.
The ideal candidate is a warm, thoughtful clinician who values therapeutic relationships and enjoys working with patients from a wide range of cultural, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
We welcome clinicians from a variety of therapeutic orientations, including psychodynamic, relational, trauma-informed, CBT, ACT, DBT, and integrative approaches. Psychodynamic and relational therapists are especially encouraged to apply.
This position offers the opportunity to join a growing mission-driven practice while maintaining flexibility, autonomy, and a strong focus on patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual psychotherapy to adults via telehealth and/or in-person sessions
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
- Deliver culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and affirming care
- Collaborate with psychiatric providers when clinically appropriate
- Participate in occasional consultation and team meetings
Required Qualifications
- Active New York State LCSW license
- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution
- Experience providing psychotherapy to adults
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and professionalism
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with LGBTQ+ communities
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations
- Experience treating trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, identity-related concerns, OCD, and ADHD
- Training in psychodynamic, relational, trauma-informed, CBT, ACT, DBT, or integrative therapies
- Experience or training in couples therapy strongly preferred
- Experience with family systems work welcomed
- Experience working with LGBTQ+ relationships, intercultural couples, and nontraditional family structures welcomed
- Bilingual or multilingual clinicians are strongly encouraged to apply
