San Diego Digestive Disease Consultants (SDDDC) is a well-established, physician-led private practice specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of digestive and liver diseases throughout San Diego County. Our practice consists of 9 Board-Certified Gastroenterologists, 3 Physician Assistants, and more than 25 dedicated employees serving patients across four convenient office locations throughout San Diego County.
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Physician Assistant to join our outpatient care team. In this vital role, you will evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with gastrointestinal and liver disorders in an outpatient setting under the supervision of our board-certified gastroenterologists. The ideal candidate is compassionate, clinically confident, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume specialty practice.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including history taking, physical examinations, and vital signs to determine gastrointestinal health status.
- Prescribe medications and treatment regimens in accordance with HIPAA regulations, DEA guidelines, and clinical protocols.
- Manage acute symptoms and provide triage for urgent outpatient cases, ensuring timely intervention and appropriate referrals.
- Develop treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
- Order, interpret, and review laboratory and diagnostic studies.
- Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and preventive care.
- Coordinate referrals, follow-up care, and procedural planning.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within Epic and maintain compliance with privacy standards.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current California Physician Assistant license in good standing.
- NCCPA certification.
- DEA registration.
- Current BLS certification.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR management. Epic experience highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques relevant to gastroenterology.
- Skilled in performing physical examinations and medical treatment procedures.
- Ability to interpret diagnostic tests such as lab results, imaging reports, and endoscopic findings accurately.
- Familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes and ICD coding for diagnoses; understanding of healthcare diagnosis standards like ICD-10/ICD-9 is preferred.
- Excellent client communication skills with a focus on patient education, health coaching, and compassionate client care delivery.
- Strong commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork.
- Ability to efficiently manage a high-volume patient schedule.
