JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB GOAL:
In collaboration with site leaders, plan, coordinate and implement a comprehensive English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) model at designated site using effective research-based methodologies leading to English proficiency development and the academic success of English Learners (ELs).
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), English Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Exceptional Student Education, or Foreign Language.

Certification or Endorsement in ESOL.

Three years or more of successful teaching experience implementing English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) strategies and appropriate accommodations within the state standards.

Bilingual skills preferred including strong academic English language skills.

Valid Florida Teaching Certificate preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of current trends, research and best practices in the field of Second Language Acquisition, and the ability to apply the knowledge to instructional practices for English Learners (ELs) in the classroom. Skill in oral and written communication with students, families, faculty, staff and administration in written and oral form (including through electronic media) using positive interpersonal skills. Ability to coach teachers in the effective use of strategies across content areas and in differentiating instruction and assessment for ELs. Knowledge of second language acquisition theory and acculturation as it impacts the social and academic development of K-12 students. Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize. Ability to implement and model best practices. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking a dedicated candidate to support our students and teachers in mathematics instruction and achievement
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
