The Grocery Manager is responsible for delivering strong outcomes financially and culturally, that model integrity, build trust and align with the mission, vision, and values of our co-op.
Specific areas of accountability include customer service, team leadership, food and staff safety, operations, purchasing and merchandising, and creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for staff and customers. This position is also responsible for collaborating with Green Top Grocery's administrative functions (HR, Finance, Marketing, GM) to ensure strong organizational alignment and communications.
This role requires strong leadership, team building, communication, problem solving, intercultural competence, prioritization/multitasking skills, accountability, and attendance/punctuality as well as adaptability, initiative, positivity, resiliency, judgment, and integrity.
Who We're Looking For...
- Experience in retail setting including perishable products inventory management
- Solid experience in the natural and organic food sector.
- Supervisory experience including hiring, training, development, coaching, performance management, and team building.
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers and staff
- Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service
- Demonstrated knowledge and track record of meeting safety standards and following best practices
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing processes and/or systems
- Computer skills including ability to draft and upload documents, email, and navigate Excel spreadsheets
- Basic math skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years retail management
- 2 years purchasing
- 5 years retail customer service
- Demonstrated understanding of financial statements including P&L (sales, margin)
- Experience scheduling and managing labor
Pay & Benefits: Starting at $20.00 per hour, with opportunities for higher compensation based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated success in grocery retail leadership.

Location: 921 E Washington St, Bloomington, IL 61701
Schedule: Shifts may vary, and can include day, evening, and holiday hours to meet department needs. Weekends required. Flexibility required.
Physical and Working Requirements:
This position requires frequent standing as well as walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching, stooping, pulling, fine motor manipulation, climbing (ladders), lifting of up to 50lbs, and the ability to move around our store and storage rooms with or without reasonable accommodation, work in varying temperature conditions and spend long periods of time in a cooler, with or without reasonable accommodation.
