We are seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to support welding quality, inspection, and documentation efforts. This role involves both onsite work and travel to support projects across multiple locations.
While candidates local to Salt Lake City are preferred for onsite work, we are open to non-local candidates who are comfortable traveling up to 40%.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and support WPS, PQR, and WPQ documentation
- Perform welding inspections and ensure compliance with codes and standards
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Support welding operations using FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW processes
- Conduct and review NDT methods (UT, RT, MT, PT, VT)
- Travel to project sites (Michigan & Colorado Springs) for inspections and audits
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of welding inspection and documentation experience
- Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
- Strong knowledge of welding codes (AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.6, B2.1, ASME Section IX)
- Experience with common welding processes (FCAW, GMAW, GTAW)
- Familiarity with NDT methods and ASNT standards
Preferred Qualifications
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification
- Experience in industrial manufacturing or metal fabrication
- Experience with onsite audits and inspections
- Lean Six Sigma knowledge
Additional Details
- Contract Length: 6+ months
- Schedule: Flexible start times within a standard 40-hour work week
- Travel: Approximately 40% (short 2–3 day trips)
