Part-Time Code Enforcement / Deputy Health Officer
Up to 20 Hours per Week
Starting Pay: $27.96 - $30.12 per hour
The City of Franklin Fire Department is seeking a qualified and motivated Part-Time Code Enforcement / Deputy Health Officer to join our Inspection Division. Working under the direction of the Inspection Captain, this position performs code enforcement, health inspections, permitting, and municipal inspection duties while supporting the City's planning, zoning, and community development efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Enforce zoning, building, health, and property maintenance regulations and municipal ordinances.
Conduct inspections of residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal properties for code compliance.
Review permit applications, site plans, and supporting documentation.
Investigate complaints involving unsafe structures, nuisance conditions, sanitation, public health concerns, andproperty maintenance violations.
Serve as the City's Deputy Health Officer and assist with enforcement of State of New Hampshire and City ofFranklin health regulations.
Apply and interpret the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) and related regulations.
Coordinate with the City Departments, contractors, property owners, engineers, architects, and outside agencies.
Prepare inspection reports, notices of violation, and maintain accurate inspection and permitting records.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (technical training in code enforcement, construction, public health, planning, ora related field preferred).
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in code enforcement, inspections, construction, property maintenance,health enforcement, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge of zoning, building, health, and property maintenance regulations, including familiarity with theInternational Property Maintenance Code (IPMC).
Ability to interpret plans, ordinances, and technical documents. Strong communication, organizational, andcustomer service skills.
Valid New Hampshire driver's license required with a clean criminal background.
Working Conditions
This position includes office and field work and requires travel to inspection sites, exposure to construction areas, occupied buildings, uneven terrain, varying weather conditions, and occasionally hazardous or unsanitary environments. Occasional off-hours inspections may be required.
