About Us
Hydra Service is a leading pump and process equipment distributor and licensed electrical contractor serving municipal and industrial customers across the Southeast. Our field service division performs lift station service and repair, pump station startups and commissioning, water and wastewater plant service and repair, electrical and control troubleshooting, and SCADA/telemetry support.
The Role
The Field Service Manager owns everything outside the building. You will manage our field service technicians, schedule and dispatch service calls, oversee startups and commissioning, maintain the service fleet, and act as the senior technical escalation point in the field. This is a working manager role — you'll spend time both coordinating the team and on job sites.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and dispatch field technicians for service calls, preventive maintenance, warranty work, startups, and emergency callouts
- Manage the on-call rotation and ensure 24/7 emergency response coverage for municipal customers
- Serve as senior field escalation for complex troubleshooting: submersible pumps, vertical turbine and split case pumps, blowers, motor controls, VFDs, level controls, SCADA/telemetry systems, and other related equipment
- Perform and oversee pump station startups and commissioning, including documentation and customer training
- Coordinate with the Service Writer and Shop Floor Manager on jobs moving between field and shop
- Build and maintain relationships with municipal utility staff, contractors, and plant operators; identify service agreement and upsell opportunities
- Review field service reports for completeness and accuracy; ensure billable time and materials are captured
- Manage service vehicles: maintenance, stocking, DOT compliance, and appearance
- Enforce field safety: confined space awareness, arc flash, lockout/tagout, and jobsite documentation
- Hire, train, and develop field technicians; conduct performance reviews
- Track field KPIs: response time, first-visit resolution, billable utilization, and callback rate

- Experience with water and waste water plant operations and maintenance
- Excellent customer-facing communication — comfortable in front of utility directors and plant operators
- Valid driver's license with clean record; able to pass background check for utility site access
