Overview
Lee Eyecare Center is looking for a friendly, dependable, and motivated Optometric Assistant to join our team. We are seeking someone who enjoys working with patients, is detailed-oriented, and can provide excellent customer service in a busy optometry practice.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients in a warm, professional manner
- Obtain and document patient medical and ocular histories
- Perform pre-testing and diagnostic testing, including:
- Visual acuity
- Autorefraction
- Tonometry
- OCT
- Optos/retinal imaging
- Visual fields
- Other testing as needed
- Assist the doctor during comprehensive eye exams
- Prepare examination rooms and maintain clean, organized equipment
- Enter accurate patient information and test results into the EHR
- Review medications, allergies, and relevant medical history
- Assist with contact lens training and patient education when appropriate
- Schedule appointments and assist with patient flow
- Perform other duties that support the smooth operation of the practice
- Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies at all times.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR) systems accurately, documenting patient information, test results, and medical records efficiently.
- Support the clinical team by performing tasks such as maintaining medical supplies, sterilizing equipment, and ensuring a clean, organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Previous optometry, ophthalmology, medical office, or healthcare experience is a plus
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented
- Able to multitask in a busy clinical environment
- Positive attitude and professional appearance
- Ability to work well as part of a team
We are willing to train the right candidate who has a strong work ethic, excellent people skills, and a desire to learn.
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
