Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Automotive Service Writer to join our tire shop team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers needing vehicle tires, repairs, and maintenance, ensuring clear communication between clients and our service technicians. This role requires a strong understanding of tires and automotive systems and excellent customer service skills to provide accurate estimates, upsell services, and promote customer satisfaction. Experience in tire sales and auto service with an understanding of automotive diagnostics is highly valued. Bonuses are based on various sales.
Duties
- Greet customers promptly and professionally, listening carefully to their vehicle concerns.
- Write detailed service descriptions and prepare accurate auto estimates for repairs and maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with tire and service technicians regarding vehicle issues, including oil changes, brake repair, suspension, tire service, basic engine repair, shocks & struts, and alignment.
- Upsell additional services and maintenance based on vehicle needs and customer preferences.
- Manage vehicle repair orders from start to finish, ensuring timely updates to customers.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and process payments efficiently.
- Maintain detailed records of all services performed and communicate findings clearly to customers.
- Assist with vehicle sales when applicable by providing information on vehicle features and financing options.
- Collaborate with the service team to improve workflow and customer experience.
Requirements
- Proven experience in tire and auto service management or as a service technician with strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics and repairs.
- Familiarity with automotive systems such as transmissions, oil changes, brake systems, suspension, tire services, , shocks & struts, alignment, and basic engine repairs.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Strong sales aptitude with experience in upselling automotive services or vehicle sales preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge of automobile repair processes including auto estimating and service writing.
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
- Prior experience in auto repair shops or dealerships involving mechanic work or service management is highly desirable.
- Automotive certifications or ASE certifications are a plus but not required.
