Early Morning Prep Cook

Schedule: 5:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Days: 5–6 days per week
Gulf Island Grill is looking for a dependable, self-motivated Early Morning Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in staying organized, and understands the importance of setting the kitchen up for a successful day.
After completing training, you will be entrusted with a key to the restaurant and will be the first person in the building each morning. We're looking for someone who is punctual, trustworthy, and can work efficiently without direct supervision.
Responsibilities
- Open the restaurant each morning and prepare the kitchen for service.
- Prepare all daily recipes and prep items according to provided par sheets.
- Have the steam well fully stocked and ready before the lunch rush.
- Ensure all prep is completed accurately and consistently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area throughout the shift.
- Properly label, date, and store all prepared food.
- Clean and reset your prep station before leaving each day.
- Communicate any inventory shortages or equipment issues to management.
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen or food prep experience preferred (but we're willing to train the right person).
- Reliable transportation and excellent attendance.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Food safety and cleanliness are a top priority.
- Honest, dependable, and comfortable being trusted with opening responsibilities.
