Family Housing Center Overnight Advocate
Non-exempt, Part-time 24 hours per week
Starting at $20.12/hour/DOE and $25/hour between 12AM-7AM

How does this position make an impact on the community? The Family Housing Center team provides support through short-term emergency shelter in the Missoula Family Housing Center, case management and rental assistance for unhoused families to find and maintain safe, stable housing and achieve self-sufficiency.
The ideal candidate: Is passionate about the mission of the YWCA and:
- Has one year experience working with domestic violence, sexual assault, or homelessness preferred.
- Has the ability to maintain confidential information.
- Has the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a variety of individuals, including clients, peers and supervisors.
- Has good work habits, including punctuality and ability to organize and manage time and information.
- Has consistent availability on weekends.

- High school diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Some of what you’ll do in this position:
- Provides trauma-informed and survivor-focused advocacy to residents in the Family Housing Center.
- Ensures that program guidelines and policies are being met by participants.
- Act as primary point of contact for residents should they need assistance during the night. Shift hours are from 8pm-8am.
- Overnight duties may include assisting residents when needed, entering data from day shifts, enforcing quiet hours when necessary, disinfecting commonly used areas, and preparing the facility for the next day.
- Evening hours will involve assisting with families during the nightly evening meal, checking residents in for the 12am curfew, and performing room checks with all residents who have not checked in for the night.
- Provides guidance and support to the volunteer staff.
- Facilitates resolution with crises that may arise during the shift.
- Enters weekly into HMIS data base
- Maintains confidential written client files as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and non-verbal skills, both with groups and interpersonally.
- Must pass a background check designed to protect the interest of women and children served by the YWCA programs.
- Highschool Diploma or equivalent diploma required.
What else you should know: This position is part-time, 24 hours per week. The schedule is Wednesday overnight 8pm-8am and Thursday 8pm-8am Monthly FHC meeting along with Advocate meetings when needed. The base wage for this position starts at $20.12/hour – higher wage would be based on experience calculated using YWCA Missoula’s wage matrix.
