Job Overview
We are looking for a proactive and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will assist with the property maintenance activities for Bird-in-Hand Family Inn, Village Inn, Amish Country Motel, Bird-in-Hand Restaurant & Bakery and other properties as assigned. You will maintain the standards established by Ownership for our buildings, equipment, and grounds and for the organization and cleanliness of work and storage spaces. You will also work together as a team with all Maintenance Staff to help serve our organization with emergency and 24 hour on-call maintenance, as scheduled.
Responsibilities
Lodging & Food Service Maintenance
- Perform maintenance duties as requested – be available for emergencies and ‘on call’ schedule
- Foster good relationships with other maintenance staff to create a team environment
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical, electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing and other equipment throughout all properties, as qualified.
- Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis
- Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints and or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction
- Communicate with managers to become aware of needs and ensure timely response to internal requests
- Assist with servicing the lodging swimming pools, cleaning filters, maintaining all motors and pumps.
- Maintain the exterior “Curb Appeal”, painting, parking lot maintenance, light posts, etc.
- Assist with maintaining mechanical rooms, keeping adequate repair parts and supplies.
- Focus on Amish Country and Village Inn properties
Corporate Maintenance
- Assist with general maintenance and preventive maintenance functions in Corporate office
- Assist ownership with maintenance functions at investment properties
- Assist in snow removal for all properties with other maintenance staff
- Assist with coordinating activities and functions on BIH Event Field
Rental Property Maintenance
- Assist with refurbishment and maintenance of the rental properties
- ‘On Call’ for any rental property issues per schedule
Other Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Utilize procedure manuals and information for building system maintenance and emergencies
- Assist with outdoor grounds maintenance, as needed
- Always conduct self in a professional, ethical and courteous manner as a representative of Bird-in-Hand Corporation
Skills
- Self starter – ability to organize and perform a list of maintenance duties in an efficient way without constant supervision.
- Operate a mower, weed eater, fork lift, medium size tractor
- Basic understanding of plumbing, electric work, carpentry work.
- Work shifts as determined by supervisor including weekend on-call shifts
Education, Training or Certification:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Pay: From $24.00 per hour
