BASIC FUNCTION: Provide direct services to victims of domestic violence which support and enhance the victim's right to her/his rights under the Illinois Domestic Violence Act and other related laws, outreach, training to community organizations and agency staff through domestic violence community advocacy programs and coordinating the implementation of prevention and intervention projects focusing on the underserved communities in Will and Grundy County.
Must be comfortable creating presentations and public speaking.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing training and outreach activities on a variety of domestic violence topics based on previous experience and acquired knowledge; seek out training opportunities with community organizations and professionals.
- Primary person responsible for outreach events, curriculum and material development working in collaboration with Community Advocacy Team, Program Manager and appropriate GACS staff.
- Provide advocacy services to Groundwork’s clients by providing crisis intervention, emotional support, life skills training, limited immigration consultation, ongoing case management and support, and aiding access to relevant information and appropriate resources.
- Develop and implement presentations, curricula and workshops on issues related to domestic violence which include elements of identification, reporting and prevention for underserved communities.
- Maintain a working knowledge of resources and services available in the communities served to assist survivors.
- Responsible for creating a culture of empowerment and trauma-informed service delivery
- Develop and maintain contacts within the community, including but not limited to Will and Grundy counties to promote agency services
- Act as liaison between Groundwork and the criminal justice systems, assisting bilingual clients to navigate through the judicial system as it relates to obtaining emergency and extended orders of protection. This assistance includes, but is not limited to housing, protection orders where additional assistance is needed, limited immigration matters, divorce, and other family law matters.
- Represent GACS/Groundwork in academic, community and professional organizations
- Submit all reports, oral and written, in an accurate and timely manner to as required by GACS and in accordance with contractual obligations
- Responsible for answering crisis line and completing required documentation.

- Ability to work flexible hours
- Valid Illinois driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance coverage
- Other duties as assigned.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Attend agency meetings as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
2. Interest in gender based issues and knowledge of family dynamics and the legal and social service delivery system.
3. Forty (40) hours of Domestic Violence Training prior to serving victims.
4. Forty (40) hours of Sexual Assault Training within 6 months of hire.
5. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
6. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
7. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials.
8. Ability to work flexible hours.
Pay: $51,000.00 per year
