Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our team in Cookeville. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic assessments utilizing clinical research methods and medical terminology.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, including psychopharmacology interventions, while monitoring treatment efficacy and side effects.
- Provide evidence-based therapy options such as behavioral health counseling, telehealth services, and crisis intervention for patients of all ages, including children and geriatrics.
- Collaborate with physicians, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare providers to develop integrated care plans aligned with HIPAA standards and utilization review protocols.
- Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, medication administration, lifestyle modifications, and discharge planning to promote recovery and resilience.
- Maintain accurate and daily medical documentation within EMR system, ensuring compliance with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with valid Tennessee state licensure.
- Proven experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing across diverse environments such as hospitals or outpatient clinics.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and documentation standards.
- Knowledge of pharmacology related to mental health medications including antidepressants, antipsychotics, and mood stabilizers; experience with medication management is essential.
- Strong understanding of physiology knowledge related to neuropsychiatric conditions and diagnostic evaluation techniques like neuroimaging or lumbar punctures is a plus.
- Excellent patient assessment skills with the ability to work effectively with children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Ability to handle acute crisis management scenarios
- Ability to independently diagnosis & treat patients with psychiatric conditions and develop an appropriate patient safety plan.
- Ability to develop strong therapeutic relationships with patients and maintain professional healthy boundaries.
