Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere
- Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Verify patient insurance benefits, including health insurance knowledge related to dental coverage and other plans
- Collect payments and process medical billing using systems like Meditech, Epic, or eClinicalWorks
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems ensuring proper documentation review and compliance with HIPAA policies
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently and professionally
- Maintain accurate dental records, medical records, and documentation in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies
Skills
- Proven experience in dental office or clinic administrative support with strong front desk skills
- Knowledge of dental terminology and medical terminology for effective communication with patients and staff
- Familiarity with dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Meditech is a plus
- Expertise in insurance verification, medical billing, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and care plan documentation
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (including 10 key typing)
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle patient inquiries professionally and courteously
- Ability to manage office tasks such as filing, data entry, appointment scheduling, and handling multi-line phone systems efficiently
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and clinical confidentiality policies
