General Duties & Responsibilities:
As a Crew Leader, you will oversee and participate in the installation of windows, doors, and siding while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency on every job site. You will serve as the main point of contact between the crew, customers, and management.
Leadership & Team Management
- Direct, supervise, and support crew members to ensure high-quality workmanship.
- Train and mentor newer installers, promoting growth and skill development.
- Communicate effectively with customers, crew members, and management regarding job status, needs, or issues.
- Maintain a professional work appearance and ensure the crew upholds company standards on-site.
Installation & Technical Skills
- Perform precise measuring and cutting using saws (circular, MITRE, Sawzall, table, multi-tool).
- Drill with concrete hammer drills and handheld drills for installation tasks.
- Fabricate metal trim: measure, cut, bend, and apply aluminum trim coil around windows and doors.
- Apply caulking (clear and colored) with a smooth, consistent finish.
- Safely lift and maneuver windows and doors weighing 50+ lbs., ensuring use of team assistance when necessary.
- Frequently work on ladders and scaffolding, from ground level to multi-story heights.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all job site and company safety policies, promptly reporting hazards or concerns.
- Ensure compliance with Comfort Windows guidelines and New York State requirements when operating company vehicles.
- Protect customer property and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
Operational Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory control for crew truck tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Document and communicate job progress, needs, and deficiencies in both written and verbal form.
- Complete all other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- 3–5 years of residential construction or installation experience preferred, with prior leadership experience strongly desired.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry, window/door installation, and siding installation.
- Ability to lead a team while working hands-on.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
