We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential care and support to individuals in need. The ideal candidate will assist individuals with daily living activities, promote independence, and enhance their quality of life.
Duties
- Support individuals with activities of daily living, including meal preparation, hygiene, medications, reminders, mobility and household tasks.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique needs.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' well-being.
- Monitor client health and behavior through patient observation, reporting any changes to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with meal preparation and cooking as needed, ensuring nutritional needs are met.
- Support clients in engaging in community activities and promote social interaction.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients home setting.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
Requirements
- Previous experience in patient care or direct support roles is preferred.
- Knowledge of mental disability practices, memory care techniques, and home community care principles is advantageous.
- Experience with de-escalation techniques and behavior intervention strategies
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Ability to assist clients physically as needed while promoting independence.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others are essential qualities for this role.
- Must be able to assist with transfer during activities of daily living (ADL)
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations.
