Fiber Technician - Job Description
M2 Optics seeks an experienced Fiber Optic Technician to join our product manufacturing team supporting the rapidly growing fiber optic communications industry, with a specific focus on Drone and Networking products. This role involves a range of important, hands-on manufacturing and technical assembly duties integral to completing and delivering high-quality products to our valued clients.
This role involves effectively performing several tasks, including hardware assembly, optical fiber spooling, fusion splicing, and OTDR testing within an ISO 9001 manufacturing quality system. Since every product is built and configured to client specifications, each project presents an opportunity to do something slightly different, keeping each day fresh and interesting.
Upon starting, you will be mentored by seasoned teammates with extensive expertise in fiber optic design, engineering, and manufacturing. Your onboarding will include comprehensive training on pertinent fiber-optic technology, the company’s products/services, established processes/systems, and the use of the necessary manufacturing equipment and tools.

In addition to learning while performing your duties, the company supports third-party training courses, including expert-level industry certifications applicable to your role and the business. Primary Duties
- Actively participates in the hands-on product/hardware manufacturing, primarily focusing on the company's products for drone connectivity applications.
- Efficiently and consistently produces high-quality outputs while meeting task and/or project deadlines.
- Performs a range of product and fiber-specific duties, including but not limited to optical fiber spooling, optical fiber fusion splicing, OTDR testing, hardware assembly, and finished product assembly and packaging.
- Successfully performs all duties to established technical guidelines and project requirements within an ISO 9001-registered Quality Management System.
- Effectively utilizes all manufacturing equipment, tools, software, and resources required for performing all duties.
- Attends and actively participates in all department and team meetings.
- Continuously learns about fiber optic technology and technical applications of the company’s products. Participates in training intended to grow manufacturing and fiber-based expertise.
Required Work Experience
- A minimum of 2-3 years of work experience and demonstrated achievements in the fiber optic communications industry, including performing similar tasks like optical fiber fusion splicing and OTDR testing, are required.
- Prior work experience performing hands-on, technical manufacturing of fiber optic, electronic, telecom, automotive, avionics, or other advanced technology products is strongly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive Base Salary, paid semi-monthly (15th and last day of each month).
- Paid Company Holidays: 10 days per year.
- Personal Time Off (PTO): 80 hours of PTO per calendar year.
- Sick Time: 24 hours of sick time per year.
- Floating Holiday: 8-hour floating holiday per calendar year.
