JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Maintenance Technician (2nd shift after training)
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
Installs, maintains and repairs mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components of production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Locates the source of machine problems or malfunction by observing, listening or using measuring and testing equipment.
Tests mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components for defect.
Dismantles machines or equipment as needed.
Removes and replaces defective parts, motors or electrical components of machinery and equipment.
Cleans and lubricates machine parts such as shafts, pulleys, gears, bearings and belts.
Removes dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines.
Connects wire to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment and is able to test and replace switches and fuses.
Assists in the installation of power supply wiring and conduit to machines.
Is able to trouble shoot basic electrical control circuits.
Replaces faulty electrical components.
Operates cutting torch and welding equipment.
Understands the basic concept and operation of programmable controllers.
Is able to make minor changes to ladder logic programs.
Proficient with basic office computer software.
Performs PM schedule set by the Maintenance Manager.
Proficient with maintenance software and is able to input data that relates to preventative maintenance and parts inventory.
Repairs and fabricates parts by using machine shop tools, lathes, milling machines instruments and equipment.
Performs duties in accordance with all applicable quality system procedures and standardized work instructions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to suppliers and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
