Position Summary: The Payroll Specialist reports directly to the Human Resource/Payroll Manager and is responsible for processing the weekly payroll and all payroll related responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verify daily timecards have been submitted and are accurate.
- Import daily timecards into accounting software.
- Review wages computed, research discrepancies of payroll data, reconcile errors and correct them to ensure accuracy of payroll.
- Ensure that employee payroll processing is in compliance with federal and state laws.
- Maintain payroll files for all new hire, existing and terminated employees.
- Prepare payroll reports for management as needed.
- Keep records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.
- Remits payroll taxes and child support payments to associated government agencies.
- File certified payroll and ROCIP reports.
- W-2 and other government reporting.
- Backup HR Manager.
- Complete other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Five + years of payroll experience.
- Knowledge of payroll laws; wage rules/withholding orders; and garnishments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (predominately, Intermediate Excel, Word, and Outlook);
- HCSS HeavyJob and Viewpoint Vista program experience preferred.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of personnel information.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and self-motivate.
- Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
- Must have ability to work with minimal supervision.
