Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and more
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all dental tools are ready for use according to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques
- Take and develop dental x-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations and radiation safety protocols
- Manage patient records accurately using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; document medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes in compliance with clinical confidentiality policies
- Support patients by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and ensuring their comfort throughout visits
- Maintain strict infection control standards by following dental sterilization procedures and healthcare infection prevention guidelines
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and managing medical documentation within Epic or similar systems
Experience
While prior dental clinic experience is preferred, we welcome candidates eager to learn with strong organizational skills and a positive attitude. Ideal applicants will demonstrate the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies like medical imaging equipment and 3D scanners. Knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, dental assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry, and proficiency with EMR platforms will be advantageous. Candidates should possess a foundational understanding of infection control practices, dental sterilization procedures, and basic clinical confidentiality policies. Experience working with pediatric patients or in general dentistry environments will be considered a plus. Most importantly, you should have excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to deliver compassionate patient care.
