Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Dental Receptionist to join our vibrant dental team! In this essential role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative duties. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression
- Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Collect patient information, update medical and dental records, and review documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages
- Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes, including intake forms and payment collection
- Manage medical billing processes including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and Medicare claims processing
- Maintain organized filing of dental records, medical records, and other administrative documents in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support office operations by performing clerical tasks such as data entry, typing, filing, and managing electronic health records (EHR systems) like eClinicalWorks or Meditech
- Verify insurance benefits and process claims efficiently to ensure timely reimbursement
- Collaborate with dental staff to coordinate care plans and ensure accurate documentation review
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Receptionist or in a similar medical office role with dental clinic experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and medical billing procedures
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and office management software
- Exceptional patient service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and data accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Previous clinic or healthcare office experience is preferred but not required
