Reports To: Communications Manager
Status: Part-Time (Flexible Hours)
Position Overview
The Communications Assistant will support the Communications Manager in executing day-to-day marketing and outreach efforts, with a strong focus on social media, content creation, and general communications tasks. This role is ideal for someone creative, detail-oriented, and eager to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit communications.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Digital Engagement
- Assist in planning, creating, and scheduling content across social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.)
- Brainstorm creative ideas for campaigns, posts, and storytelling opportunities
- Monitor social media accounts and support audience engagement (comments, messages, outreach)
- Identify trends and opportunities to grow reach and engagement
Content Creation & Writing
- Draft and edit content including social media captions, blog posts, email blasts, and website updates
- Assist with writing press releases and media materials
- Support storytelling efforts by gathering information, quotes, and impact stories
Communications Support
- Provide general administrative support to the Communications Manager
- Assist with maintaining content calendars and tracking deadlines
- Help coordinate communications-related projects and campaigns
- Conduct light research for media opportunities, partnerships, or trends
Qualifications
- Writing and editing skills with attention to detail
- Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation
- Creative thinker with a willingness to contribute ideas
- Organized and able to manage multiple small tasks at once
- Interest in nonprofit work, communications, marketing, or related field
- Experience with tools like Canva, Hootsuite, or similar platforms
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
- Basic graphic design or video editing skills
- Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact)
- Understanding of brand voice and storytelling
Schedule
- Part-time hours (flexible; to be determined)
- Hybrid work model based in Miami, Florida (in-office/remote flexibility).

Voices For Children Foundation, Inc. (VFC) raises critical funds to support children and youth experiencing foster care youth in Miami-Dade County through children’s needs, advocacy, and positive experiences. VFC is expanding services to meet the diverse needs of children involved in the dependency system, helping them thrive through kinship support, independent living preparation, basic needs fulfillment, positive experiences, and permanency initiatives.
Pay: $15.00 per hour
