Job Description:
The Certified Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for providing patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities as part of the clinical care team. The MA needs to be attentive to the needs of the patient and possess the ability to communicate effectively with the whole team. The MA should comfort patients by anticipating patient’s anxieties and answering patient’s questions as permitted.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Medical Assistant Certification
- Experience in women's health and/or fertility
- Training as a Scrub/Assist (preferred, not required)
- BLS
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assists and chaperones physician with procedures
- Measures patient vital signs (weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature)
- Manages rooming and patient flow; escorts patient to and from examining rooms, and directs or escorts patient to the front desk upon the completion of the patient’s appointment or treatment.
- Preps and cleans exam rooms and phlebotomy area ensuring clean clinical sinks, nursing stations, counter tops, and equipment.
- Conducts blood draws and injections; accurately completes lab requisition forms
- Assists front office with clerical duties to maintain effective office operations, as needed
- Provides support to all team members, as needed.
- Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying physician of patient’s arrival and reminding provider of service delays.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and calling for assistance from other health care support personnel when appropriate.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Ensures operation of equipment by following manufacturer’s instructions; advises RN when there are equipment problems or failures.
- Maintains clinical supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level and ordering supplies when stock needs replenishing; distributes clinical supplies as needed.
- Work weekends & holidays as needed.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping all patient information confidential.
- Follows OSHA guidelines
