Responsibilities
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately to process retail sales transactions, including cash register operations and cash handling.
- Provide friendly and professional customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries.
- Conduct product demos when appropriate to showcase features and benefits of store merchandise.
- Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales opportunities.
- Manage the cash drawer with precision, ensuring proper cash handling and balancing at shift end.
- Stock shelves, organize displays, and assist with merchandising to maintain an attractive shopping environment.
- Maintain excellent phone etiquette when handling customer calls or inquiries.
- Assist with inventory management tasks such as stocking, product replenishment, and inventory counts.
- Support supervising team members by providing guidance on cashiering procedures and customer service standards when needed.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers and team members.
- Apply basic math skills for transaction accuracy and retail math calculations.
Experience
- Previous experience in retail sales or cashiering is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is key!
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash register operations is a plus.
- Prior grocery store or retail experience involving cashiering, stocking, or merchandising is advantageous.
- Supervising experience in a retail setting is a nice-to-have but not mandatory; leadership qualities are valued.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse customer needs effectively.
- Strong communication skills, including phone etiquette and customer service expertise, are essential.
- Experience with upselling techniques and product demos can help maximize sales performance.
